Caucau switch a difficult transition
French rugby agent, Frank Boivert believes a switch from union to rugby league for former Agen wing, Rupeni Caucau will be hard if the Bua flyer is considering the move.
Yesterday Caucau officially quit from his Agen club after five months saying he needed to rest to recuperate from his injured calf.
“I have played rugby league before and I tell you it is not an easy thing,” Boivert said.
“All these talks about Rupeni joining league can be done. He is free to do whatever he wants now but he shouldn’t think it’s going to be an easy transition, it’s not going to be a walk in the park.”
The Fiji National Rugby League confirmed several Australian clubs are eager to rope in Caucau as he prepares for the World Cup later this year.
Saint George Illiwarra is highly tipped to secure Caucau after rumors they have sparked up a hefty lucrative package for the union star.
Given Caucau’s track record of disappearing acts, FNRL is crossing their fingers he can commit to the Vodafone Fiji Bati team but this heavily depends on his recovery from his injury.
“I received a call from the Agen coach and he said Caucau went for a run earlier in the week and re-injured his calf,” Boivert said.
“So that’s quite serious right there. I don’t think he can even walk, that’s how painful the injury is.”
