Caucau's move baffles Pivac (Sunday, June 19, 2005)
AGEN flyer Rupeni Caucau is missing from the national rugby camp, leaving Wayne Pivac in the dark again.
"Very disappointing. He hasn't called me, I don't know where he is," Pivac said.
"He promised to call me on Friday and didn't," he said.
"I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, I haven't seen him, he was supposed to march into camp at 11am like the rest of the players," Pivac said.
Caucau snubbed Pivac and the national team camp twice since returning from playing for his Agen club in France.
He skipped the Fiji-Maori match for his traditional obligations in the "kau ni matanigone," taking his daughter to his Navakasiga Village for the first time. Then he also stayed out of the national side's trip to play in the match against the All Blacks last Friday.
Pivac called a 23-member squad to specially include Caucau for the World Cup qualifier against Tonga on Saturday and the matches against Samoa.
Meanwhile, the 22-member national side went through a fitness training session at Suva Grammar School yesterday but Pivac has found the ground there below par for the national team to train on.
He would like the reps to train at the Post Fiji National Stadium which was not available early this week.

Fiji Rugby lets Caucau off the hook (Wednesday, June 22, 2005)
THE Fiji Rugby Union will not take any further action against Rupeni Caucau.
FRU chairman Keni Dakuidreketi said while it was disappointing for a player of Caucau's calibre to turn down Fiji, they would not take any further action against the speedster.
National coach Wayne Pivac dropped Caucau on Sunday after the France-based player failed to join the side in camp for the World Cup qualifier on Saturday against Tonga.
This is the third time in three weeks Caucau has done a disappearing act after arriving in the country.
He was dropped from the side which lost 27-29 to the New Zealand Maoris at the Post Fiji Stadium.
Pivac dropped the Agen player from the team which travelled to NZ to play the All Blacks.
Caucau had told Times Sport before the Maori match that he wanted to play for Fiji.
"We would have loved to see him play at home," Dakuidreketi said.
"It would have been the first time he would have done that in the national colours.
"Even after being given a second chance by Wayne, he decided not take the chance."
Dakuidreketi said under IRB rules, FRU could discipline Caucau and bar him from playing club rugby but they did not want to do it.
Pivac said he disciplined Caucau by dropping him from his squad for the qualifying series.

| Le Haka fidjien a battu le Haka tongien. La finesse appliquée a défait la force stérile. |
